This week’s scripture: Psalm 46:1-2 – “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”

When Life Shakes, God Stays

Life has a way of shaking us—sudden change, unexpected loss, difficult news, or just the slow unraveling of what we thought was secure. There are moments when everything familiar feels like it’s slipping through our fingers. But here’s the truth: even when the ground beneath us moves, our God doesn’t.

Psalm 46 doesn’t ignore the reality of chaos. It acknowledges that the earth may give way and the mountains may fall—but it opens with a bold reminder: God is our refuge and strength. Not was. Not will be. Is. Right now. Present. Steady.

Finding Shelter in God’s Steadfast Presence

Refuge is more than protection—it’s a place of peace in the midst of panic. Strength is more than stamina—it’s God empowering us when we have none left. Being unshaken doesn’t mean pretending the storm isn’t raging. It means knowing where to run when it is.

When your heart trembles under pressure, when anxiety feels louder than your faith, when the world seems too much—remember this: God is your unshakable place.

Why This Matters Now

As we prepare for our October Evangelistic Outreach and look back on an awesome Release Conference 2025, we’re stepping into battle—not with fear, but with faith. We’re proclaiming hope in the very places where people feel most broken. And to do that, we need to be anchored ourselves.

Evangelism flows from a place of knowing the One we’re introducing others to. You can’t invite someone into shelter if you haven’t rested there yourself. So let’s be reminded: we don’t share a weak gospel—we share a refuge. We don’t offer empty hope—we offer eternal strength.

How to Stay Rooted When the Storm Hits

  1. Run to God, not away

Storms test our instinct. Don’t isolate—lean in. Pray, worship, and open your Bible even when it’s hard.

  2. Speak what’s true, even when you feel shaken

Say it aloud: “God is my refuge. I will not fear.” Your faith will rise with your confession.

  3. Remind yourself of God’s track record

Look back and remember the times He came through. If He did it before, He’ll do it again.

  4. Let peace lead your purpose

Whether evangelising on the streets or in your personal life, let the peace of God mark your steps and your voice.

Biblical Pictures of Being Held in the Storm

  • Peter on the Water (Matthew 14:22–33): Even when Peter began to sink, Jesus reached out and held him. The storm didn’t stop Jesus from saving.

  • Paul in Prison (Acts 16:25–26): Worship in a storm can shake more than the ground—it can break chains.

  • Jesus Asleep in the Boat (Mark 4:35–41): The storm didn’t alarm Him, because He had full authority over it. So does He still.

Living Boldly in an Unshakable Kingdom

Storms may come, but we serve the King of an unshakable Kingdom. And He is calling us to share that hope. This week, let your life be a testimony: not of perfection, but of peace in the midst of chaos.

As we continue our daily lives, let us carry this reminder into every conversation:

There is a refuge. His name is Jesus.

Reflection

What area of your life feels unstable right now? Are you running to God as your refuge—or trying to hold it together on your own? How can your own testimony of being “unshaken in the storm” help someone else this week?

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for being my refuge and strength. When the world feels unstable, remind me that You are still on the throne. Anchor my heart in Your presence. Teach me to trust You even when I can’t see the outcome. As I go about this week, let my peace point others to You. Help me carry hope into the lives of those who need it most. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
